Supported barcode formats for North American Driver License:


Barcode verification for barcodes found on various forms of DMV-issued identification.

  • For the United States, we recognize barcodes from all 50 states, along with districts, and outlying territories.
  • For Canada, we recognize barcodes from all 10 provinces, and the three territories.
  • For Mexico, barcode support is limited. Many Mexican jurisdictions do not use a 2D (PDF417 format) barcode
     

Government Issued ID Capture Best Practices:
 

  1. Use Good Bright Lighting – Preferred Natural Lighting (such as outside in daylight):

  2. Disable the Flash:

  3. Hold the Camera Steady and Level:

  4. Create Contrast Around the ID:

  5. Do Not Block Any Portion of the ID:

     

     

Selfie Capture Best Practices:
 

  • Be sure to include a complete face in the selfie.
  • Remove sunglasses, hats, or other articles that obstruct the face.
  • Find good bright lighting. We suggest going outside in natural daylight.


With the camera active, various messages are displayed, such as (but not limited to):

  • Face into center, please – means you are not centered in the frame
  • Hold camera still – means you must steady the camera
  • Camera angle needs to be adjusted – means the camera and your face are not inline with each other
  • Well done – means you have successfully captured the image
  • Processing - means you are finished and the image is being evaluated

  3. Submitted. (see below)


Once the image has been submitted you can return to the previous page and wait for your results. Results can take up to 2 or 3 minutes in some rare cases. Please be patient.
